What the Class Covers
Two hours, taught by NRA Certified Instructor Rolando Echeverria. The course introduces the fundamentals of firearms and firearm safety along with the laws pertaining to carrying a firearm in Florida.
- Firearm fundamentals and safe handling
- Florida law on carrying a concealed firearm
- Where you can and cannot legally carry
- Use-of-force basics
- A certificate of completion issued at the end of class
- A package of instructions and forms for your FDACS application
- A special presentation by the U.S. Law Shield self-defense legal protection program
This course is 100% beginner friendly. You do not need to own a gun and you do not need any prior experience — even if you have never handled or fired a firearm before.
Serving Broward County
Students come to this class from Fort Lauderdale, Plantation, Sunrise, Davie, Oakland Park, Wilton Manors, Pompano Beach, and Hollywood. Because you can register at the door and get fingerprinted on-site, most people complete everything they need in a single two-hour visit.
Not sure whether you still need the license at all? Read do you still need a concealed carry permit in Florida? — the short answer is that the license is optional for carrying inside Florida, but it is what lets you carry in dozens of other states.
After the Class
You leave with a certificate and an application package. The next steps — the FDACS application, fees, and processing time — are laid out step by step in our guide, how to get your Florida concealed weapon license.
And once you have the license, the real work starts. A permit is a legal document, not a skill. Our Introductory Course ($175) and force-on-force training (from $60) are where competence actually gets built.
