360 Tactical's Introductory Course in Miami is designed for people who have never fired a gun. It costs $175 per person, runs from 1:00 PM to 5:00 PM at our Homestead Training Center range, and requires no prior experience. You do not need to own a firearm to attend. The class is taught by NRA Certified Instructor Rolando Echeverria and covers safety, fundamentals, and live fire under direct supervision.
You Are Not Behind
The single most common thing we hear on the range is some version of "I feel stupid, I don't know anything." Every student who has ever shot well started exactly where you are.
There is no test to pass before you show up. You do not need to know what a magazine is, what caliber means, or how to load anything. Nobody is going to hand you a loaded firearm and watch you struggle. The class is built in the correct order — understand the weapon, handle it safely with no ammunition present, then and only then fire it.
Our instructors come from law enforcement backgrounds. They have taught nervous beginners for years and they are not impressed by bravado. They are impressed by people who follow the safety rules and ask questions.
What Happens in the Class
The four hours break down roughly like this:
Hour 1 — Safety and the firearm itself
The four universal safety rules, how a pistol actually works, nomenclature, how to load and unload, how to clear a malfunction, and safe storage at home. All of this happens with no live ammunition.
Hour 2 — Handling and fundamentals
Grip, stance, sight alignment, sight picture, breathing, and trigger control. Dry practice until the motions feel natural.
Hours 3 and 4 — Live fire
Your first shots, on a controlled line, with an instructor directly beside you. We start close and slow. Accuracy first, speed never. By the end of the session most students are grouping shots on a target at practical distance.
What to Bring
Keep it simple. See our full first-class checklist for the detailed version.
- Eye and ear protection (mandatory)
- Pants or shorts with a real belt (mandatory)
- Closed-toe shoes or boots — no sandals or crocs
- A firearm and ammunition if you own one; ask us if you do not
- Water, sunscreen, hat, and mosquito repellent
- A shirt with a high neckline (hot brass finds low necklines)
Common Worries, Answered Honestly
"Will it hurt?"
No. Recoil from a standard handgun is a firm push, not pain. Most first-time shooters are surprised by how manageable it is.
"Will it be loud?"
Yes — which is why hearing protection is mandatory and why we check that yours fits correctly before anyone fires.
"What if I panic?"
Then you set the firearm down on the bench pointed downrange and step back. That is a completely acceptable outcome and it happens. No one will make a thing of it.
"What if I'm the only woman there?"
You will not be, but if you would prefer it, we run a ladies-only training program as well.
Where This Leads
The Introductory Course is the first rung of a ladder. After it you can move to the Intermediate Course ($200), then the Advanced Course ($200). Separately, if your goal is to carry, the Florida Concealed Weapon License class is only $50 and takes two hours.
Many students do the CWL class first because it is inexpensive and covers the law, then take the Introductory Course for real trigger time. Either order works.
