What to Bring to Your First Class

The mandatory list, the forgotten list, and the do-not-wear list.

For a live-fire class at 360 Tactical you must bring eye and ear protection, pants or shorts with a real belt, and closed-toe shoes or boots. Sandals and crocs are not permitted on the range. If you own a firearm, bring it along with a holster, extra magazines, and roughly 200 rounds of ammunition. For the two-hour classroom concealed carry class, you only need yourself and a valid ID.

Mandatory — You Will Not Shoot Without These

  • Eye protection — wraparound safety glasses. Prescription glasses alone are not ideal; get side coverage.
  • Ear protection — plugs or muffs. Electronic muffs are worth the money because you can still hear instruction.
  • A real belt — a proper belt, not a fashion belt. This is mandatory on every course page for a reason: a holster on a flimsy belt is unsafe.
  • Closed-toe shoes or boots — no sandals, no crocs. Hot brass finds bare feet with uncanny accuracy.

If You Own a Firearm

  • Your pistol or rifle — train on what you actually carry or keep
  • Kydex holster (for pistol courses)
  • Rifle sling — mandatory for the carbine course
  • Multiple magazines — more than two saves a lot of loading time
  • Roughly 200 rounds of ammunition
  • A range bag to carry it in

If You Don't Own a Firearm Yet

That is completely normal and it is not a barrier. Tell us when you register that you do not own a firearm and we will sort out what you will use.

Do not go buy a gun the week before your first class just to have one. Take the class first, shoot under instruction, then buy based on what actually fits your hand — see choosing your first handgun.

The South Florida Additions Everyone Forgets

Our live-fire range in Homestead is outdoors, and classes run 1:00 PM to 5:00 PM — the hottest part of a South Florida afternoon.

  • Water. More than you think. Then more than that.
  • Mosquito repellent. Specifically recommended on our low-light course pages, and they are not joking.
  • Hat and sunscreen. Four hours of direct sun.
  • A shirt with a high neckline. Ejected brass is hot and gravity is undefeated. A low neckline turns into a memorable afternoon.
  • A towel and a change of shirt. You will sweat through what you arrive in.
  • Snack. Four hours is longer than it sounds.

For Night and Low-Light Classes

Our low-light courses add gear requirements:

  • Weapon-mounted light or hand-held light
  • Extra batteries
  • Long pants — the range is different at night
  • Mosquito repellent, seriously

For Force-on-Force

At force-on-force in Hialeah, protective gear and the training firearm are provided. What you wear underneath is on you:

  • Long sleeves
  • Long pants
  • Gloves
  • Neck protection
  • Sneakers or boots — no open-toe shoes

For the Concealed Carry Class

The CWL class is a two-hour classroom course. Bring yourself, a valid photo ID, and $50 (plus $30 if you want fingerprints done on-site). No firearm, no ammunition, no gear required.

What Not to Bring

  • Sandals, crocs, or open-toe anything. You will not be on the line.
  • A firearm you have never handled and did not clean. If it is brand new, say so on arrival.
  • Steel-core or steel-cased ammunition unless you have confirmed it is permitted.
  • An attitude about the safety rules. Students who cannot follow them leave the line.
