Why Miami Students Take This Course

Most Miami students arrive here after realizing that shooting accurately at a static target and being able to defend yourself are different skills. This is the class where the gap closes — drawing from concealment under a t-shirt, moving, reloading, and shooting from behind cover.

Miami is where the school is based and where most of our students live. It is also a city with its own particular set of realities: there is no jacket season, a large share of the population thinks in Spanish, and the difference between a safe neighborhood and a rough one can be four blocks.

All of that shapes how we teach. Concealment under a t-shirt rather than a coat. Instruction in the language you actually think in. Training outdoors in real heat rather than an air-conditioned bay.

What the Course Covers

  • Drawing from the holster and from concealment
  • Tactical reloads and speed reloads
  • Clearing malfunctions under time pressure
  • Shooting on the move
  • Using cover and moving between positions
  • Multiple-target transitions and accountability
  • Shooting with a partner and communicating while you do it

Where and When

Our outdoor Homestead range · 4 hours (1 PM – 5 PM).

From Miami it is roughly a 45-minute drive south, traffic depending. Give yourself margin: classes start on time and the safety briefing is not something you can join halfway through.

We train outdoors deliberately. An outdoor range lets us teach drawing from a holster, moving between positions, shooting from behind cover, and working after dark — almost no indoor range in Miami-Dade permits any of it. More about the range.
