Why Doral Students Take This Course

For Doral professionals leaving an office park at 10 PM, low light is not a training scenario — it is the commute. Identifying what you are looking at before you decide anything is the entire skill, and it is harder than anyone expects.

Doral is a business district first — office parks, warehousing, logistics, and a large Venezuelan and Colombian community. The questions we get from Doral students reflect that: people working late in a half-empty office park, business owners carrying deposits, and families who want a plan at home.

It is also the closest major city to our Hialeah facility, which makes the Monday night session genuinely practical on a weeknight.

What the Course Covers

  • Drawing from concealment in the dark
  • Tactical and speed reloads with no visual reference
  • Weapon-mounted lights versus hand-held technique
  • Identifying your target before you decide anything
  • Moving from cover to cover in darkness
  • Shooting with a partner — communication is the whole exercise
  • Managing the loss of night vision every time you use a light

Where and When

Our outdoor Homestead range · After dark.

From Doral it is roughly a 50-minute drive south. Give yourself margin: classes start on time and the safety briefing is not something you can join halfway through.

We train outdoors deliberately. An outdoor range lets us teach drawing from a holster, moving between positions, shooting from behind cover, and working after dark — almost no indoor range in Miami-Dade permits any of it. More about the range.

Frequently Asked Questions

Where do Doral students take low light and night training?
Training runs at our outdoor Homestead range, roughly a 50-minute drive south from Doral.
How much is low light and night training near Doral?
$225 pistol / $250 rifle per person. Call 786-314-0471 for the next available date.
Why does low-light training matter?
Because most defensive incidents do not happen in good light. Training exclusively in daylight prepares you for the conditions you are least likely to face.
Can a new shooter take this class?
No. This course is explicitly for experienced shooters. You will be drawing from concealment and reloading in the dark, and that requires habits already built in daylight.
Do I need a weapon-mounted light?
A weapon light or a good hand-held light is required. We cover the technique for both, and there are real trade-offs between them.
Is mosquito repellent really necessary?
Yes. It is listed on the course page for a reason — an outdoor South Florida range after dark is not a theoretical concern.
