Why Kendall Students Take This Course

For a Kendall family, the carbine question is usually about the house — and it is a legitimate choice, because a rifle is easier to shoot accurately than a pistol under stress. It is also longer, louder indoors, and demands more practice. This course is where you find out whether it is right for you.

Kendall is the closest major community to the Homestead Training Center — a straight run south on the Turnpike or US-1 — which makes it the easiest place in the county to actually get live-fire training done.

It is also largely families and long-term residents, and the questions we hear from Kendall are consistent: someone wants to protect the house, there are kids in it, and usually only one adult has ever handled a firearm.

What the Course Covers

  • Safe handling and manual of arms for the AR platform
  • Zeroing and understanding your hold at practical distances
  • Shouldering, stance, and recoil management
  • Reloads — tactical and speed
  • Malfunction clearing
  • Transitions and shooting from multiple positions
  • Working with a sling as a stability tool, not just a strap

Where and When

Homestead Training Center · Half day.

From Kendall it is a short drive south — the shortest of any major community in the county. Give yourself margin: classes start on time and the safety briefing is not something you can join halfway through.

We train outdoors deliberately. An outdoor range lets us teach drawing from a holster, moving between positions, shooting from behind cover, and working after dark — almost no indoor range in Miami-Dade permits any of it. More about the range.

Bring your own firearm and ammunition — we do not rent firearms. If you have not bought one yet, call before you book and we will talk through what to look for.
