Why Kendall Students Take This Course

The most common Kendall version of this call is "my husband shoots, I don't, and I want that to change." It is worth changing. A household defense plan only one adult can execute is not a plan, and this is the least intimidating place to start.

Kendall is the closest major community to our Homestead range — a straight run south on the Turnpike or US-1 — which makes it the easiest place in the county to actually get live-fire training done.

It is also largely families and long-term residents, and the questions we hear from Kendall are consistent: someone wants to protect the house, there are kids in it, and usually only one adult has ever handled a firearm.

What the Course Covers

  • Safe handling and the four universal safety rules
  • Finding a firearm that actually fits your hand
  • Racking a slide as technique rather than strength
  • Grip, stance, and trigger control
  • Drawing from a holster that works with real clothing
  • Carrying with the wardrobe you actually own
  • Personal protection and situational awareness

Where and When

Our outdoor Homestead range · Half day.

From Kendall it is a short drive south — the shortest of any major community in the county. Give yourself margin: classes start on time and the safety briefing is not something you can join halfway through.

We train outdoors deliberately. An outdoor range lets us teach drawing from a holster, moving between positions, shooting from behind cover, and working after dark — almost no indoor range in Miami-Dade permits any of it. More about the range.

Frequently Asked Questions

Where do Kendall students take women's firearms training?
Training runs at our outdoor Homestead range, a short drive south — the shortest of any major community in the county from Kendall.
How much is women's firearms training near Kendall?
Call for pricing. Call 786-314-0471 for the next available date.
What is the best carry gun for a woman?
There is no single answer, and the common advice to buy the smallest, lightest gun available is usually wrong — small light guns are the hardest to shoot well. Fit and shootability come first; concealment is a holster and belt problem.
Are small guns easier for women to shoot?
Generally the opposite. Less mass means more felt recoil, a shorter grip means less control, and smaller sights are harder to see.
I am nervous about guns. Is that a problem?
No — it is a reasonable response and it usually makes for a careful student. Ladies-only sessions and private instruction both remove the audience entirely.
Can I bring a friend or family member?
Yes. Women often book these sessions in pairs or small groups, and it tends to make the first day considerably easier.
